Tips for Clear Skin

One Thing that’s really important to me when it comes to beauty and looking my best, is my skin. I think the most important thing is when you have good skin, you don’t need nearly as much makeup as you would need if you have bad skin. And yes, some people are blessed with skin that NEVER breaks out, but for the most part many people break out because they don’t do all the steps to keep it as clear as possible. Of course you may have a bump or two but i’m talking more about how to prevent the big break outs.

Many people always ask “oh whats the best foundation?”, but in my opinion if you take care of your skin you don’t need foundation! Concealer, yes! But foundation, no!! Because I always think that taking care of your skin is important, I figured I would come up with my top 5 things I do or use to keep my skin under control.

1. Whenever possible, be makeup free!! Of course I’m not talking about when you are with people or out in public, but if you are at home doing noting take off the makeup!! Because lets face it, no matter if you use natural makeup or not, it clogs your pores which is exactly what you don’t want when trying to have clear skin! And of course NEVER sleep with your makeup on, that’s a huge NO-NO! So when I’m lazy and don’t feel like actually washing my face but I need to get the make up off, I love using Clean & Clear makeup removing cloths/wipes (you can buy these at any drug store!).

2. Say NO to makeup face primers! When doing your makeup, never use a face primer, eye lid primer yes but not face primer. WHY!? Because the purpose of a face primer is to fill in your pores to make your face look smooth for the next step of makeup you’re applying. But did you catch the part “fill in your pores?” A.K.A clog your pores!! A HUGE NO! I have never had a good outcome using face primers, ever.

3. Use a face toner! I love using face toners with either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid for the added acne helping benefit, but a regular face toner will do. The purpose of this is to use it after washing or wiping off your face so that you can remove any extra gunk off your face that didn’t come off after washing. This is very necessary when trying to have clear skin because you want nothing extra on your face from the day that will clog your pores.

4. Eat healthy and nutritious food! What? Yes, what you eat affects your skin. Too much greasy foods or refined carbs can not only hurt your weight, but also your skin, how weird right!? Of course you can always have your weekend treat but try to limit junk food to just once a week. And to replace all that junk food, start eating more fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and healthy carbs and fats. Your body AND skin will thank you!

5. Lastly, de-stress!! When you are stressed, your body creates more of a bad hormone called cortisol which creates bad hormone imbalances causing lots of bad things to happen in your body, including skin break outs! And always make sure you aren’t stressing because half time the time you won’t even realize you are stressed. My favorites ways to de-stress are: drinking calming tea, bubble bath, yoga, exercise, more sleep, keeping homework under control, etc. I notice when big tests come up for school I start breaking out due to stress, so study for your tests and be calm!

Well, that’s it for this post, hope you enjoyed and maybe sometime in the near future I will make a skincare routine video!
