HOW TO: Control Hunger Levels & Increase Leptin

Hey Guys! Welcome to my first “HOW TO:” Series which I will be doing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!

Todays “HOW TO:” Series is about controlling hunger and increasing Leptin!

First we will start off my talking about leptin (Why, What, How) because not everyone knows what Leptin is.

LEPTIN: A hormone that DECREASES appetite. Helps signal brain that the body has enough energy stores (A.K.A Body fat!).

So the take-away about leptin is it will help you control your appetite so you don’t overeat leading to weight gain!

So how do we increase the leptin hormone? Here are some guidelines I have gathered from research that seem to increase leptin:

-A high fat diet is supposed to decrease leptin because fat does NOT make you full especially oil because it takes up almost no space in the stomach. So even though you will get a lot of calories you will keep eating because you don’t feel full, which over eating increases resistance to leptin (your body gets used to basically ignoring leptin so leptin decreases).

– BUT, all processed carbs or even excess good carbs are also not good either!

So What kind of diet are you supposed to eat? Let’s leave animal products out of the equation because people will either choose to eat or not eat them and not all protein is from animal products. SO, Regardless where you get your protein, eat it! Because it helps leptin! But not too much! Recent studies showed how 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight is too much!!! Too much protein is bad for liver and bad if you’re trying to slim down!

So long story short: moderate WHOLE UNREFINED carbs, low to moderate protein and fat. BALANCE! And all whole foods! Are bodies aren’t meant to process already processed foods! Its screws up hormones and leptin is a hormone!

So implimenting these as well as more sleep and less stress, you’re in the right direction to increase leptin! Good Luck!
